I found a great deal on a printer, but it says "compatable with windows, windows 2000, and windows xp" - it doesn't say anything about being mac compatable.

Any printer that is USB compatible will physically hook to a MAC however, what you need to be concerned about are the software and drivers. What model and brand are you looking at? Some companies will send or have Mac drivers available to download and some do not. You should research the model thoroughly or list the model here and I will be happy to assist further. You can IM me as well. Good luck!

Hello Davimi,

You bought an iMac instead of some cheap, pieced together box of PC parts. You sometimes have to pay for good quality. Otherwise, you are just buying something that won't work very well, or for very long. Many times a Macintosh is compatible, but to guarantee that it will work properly, you need to go to the printer manufacturer's web site and see if it's Macintosh compatible, or if it has drivers available for downloading. Usually it will say right on the box. If it doesn't, then don't mess with it.

If it doesn't;'t say Mac compatible then unfortunately it is not. Apples computer utilize a different print management system that will not work with every driver. Some will have mac drivers available after market on their website. Your best bet is to go to the manufacturer website a check out the driver listing for your model. IF there is nothing for your OS then unfortunately you will need to keep shopping.

Well technically you can hook up any printer, but they thing is you have to get the drivers for it. You would have to check on the printer if it has mac drivers or not.

Most printers will work with almost any computer but some need an adapter cord to fit in to your hard drive.
