Someone asked me if a dress made her look fat, and I said no...the dress doesn't make her look fat, but vision did! Was that insensitive?

When I am asked if this dress makes them look fat, I simply tell them no it's their fa tthat makes the dress look small

Depends...if she's your best friend in the whole wide world and you normally tease each other, then No it wasn't insensitive. But if this person was asking for an honest opinion, then you could have been a little more sweeter. Girls don't like to be or look fat. And when the fat question is made a courteous approach would be to say the words "unflattering", "not your style" or "doesn't look right for you". Hopefully she has a good self esteem and is open to blunt feedback.

It depends on the person you were speaking to. As a general rule you should never tell a girl she looks fat - even if she is. If you have to blame it on the dress not her and put it nicely!

I think it was a little mean but also depends on how the relationship is with the girl.

I'd say that answer was a little on the cruel side, if she's asking than obviously she was feeling unconfident and you didn't help.

If she really did look big in it you could have put it in a little nicer terms.

if the person had no since of humer then yes it could be taken that way but if they did then they would of laughted it off weather you were joking or not!! [ although i would have laughted]

i think you could have put it in nicer terms. if she is your friend though and you are used to joking around like this then i don't see a problem.
