that started the American Revolution?

None knows for sure, some sources will act as if they know the answer, but in reality it will never be known. There are compelling arguments supporting both the English firing first and the Militia (minute men) firing first. The two forces faced off on Lexington Green, and after a brief verbal spat the English fired a volley, provoked or not will never be known, which killed and wounded several Americans.

Even if the surving minute men had no intention of fighting the British, the sight of dead friends and neighbors inspired them to harass the red coats return march to Boston. The fight occured on Lexington Green, there was a skirmish on a bridge, but this occured after the skirmish at Lexington Green.

No one knows. Its the shot that started the revolution at Lexington bridge in Massachusetts on April 19th, 1775. They faced off over the bridge, the British ordered the Americans to disperse and a shot went off. No one is sure who fired, but afterward, 8 Americans lay dead and the rest fled. So if its a question for school, its a trick, no one knows and no one ever wil.

No one knows... Not only is it not known which person shot first, it's not even clear which side shot first...

It was not the Boston Massacre, but the battle of Concord.

The poem on the memorial plaque reads,
"By the rude bridge that arched the flood, Their flag to April's breeze unfurled.
Here once the Embattled farmers stood, And fired the shot heard round the world."

Scholars are not really sure, but some say that it was most likely the Rebels because of their lack of military training. But it could just as well have been the British because of their eagerness to get revenge on the colonists.

It is STILL not clear who actually fired the first shot. But it started the Boston Massacre, which left a bunch of civilians dead. THere are many theries, one involving a child throwing a snow ball, another saying that a word was misheard and they thought it was fire, and no one really knows if it was the colonists or the british who fired first.

I think it was the English that started the Revolution. I'm not quite sure though.
