Rhodes runs for 113 and 1 TD
Manning passes to the tune of an 81(!!) passer rating

I'm a Bears fan and that was the most nauseating bs of the whole night.

All of you idiots who think I'm mad becase the Bears lost are just that, idiots. 95% of you have never even played the game of football or any sport at any level.
The Colts won. They deserved to win. Congratulations. I was over it in about 2 hours and then I was at Club Bed partying. I just happen to think the MVP was a crock.
All of you non- athlete Colts fans that never played the gameand went on to become a physician... my life is 100% better than yours. Get over that

Dude, I agree with you 100%. Peyton Manning did not deserve the award. Dominic Rhodes 113 yards and 1TD allowed The Colts to control the ball and in essence, the game. A QB is not nearly as good without a decent running game, and no matter how good the QB a team cannot win the big games without a good running attack (I.E Dan Marino's Dolphin teams of the 80's, as well as John Elway's Bronco teams of the 80's)

There has been other instances in The Super Bowl where the QB won the MVP but did not deserve the award.

Super Bowl I - Packers QB Bart Starr was given the award even though he threw for 250 yards, with 2TD's and 1INT, the MVP should've went to WR Max McGee. Although McGee was hungover and only caught 4 passes the entire year, when WR Boyd Dowler seperated his shoulder, McGee stepped in and caught 7 passes for 138 yards and both TD's. McGee should've been named MVP but the award was given to QB Bart Starr

Super Bowl III- The Jets came in as 18 point underdogs, but were able to control both the ball, and the game due to RB Matt Snell's 30 rushes for 121 yards and The Jets only TD of the game. The award, however, was given to Jets QB Joe Namath who threw for 201 yards with 0 TD's. The award also could've been given to Jets WR, George Sauer, who caught 8 passes for 131 yards.

Super Bowl IV- Although Chiefs WR Otis Taylor caught 6 passes for 91 yards and a TD (His TD was a 6 yard out, he broke one tackle at the 40 and made another tackler miss on his way to a 46 yard TD catch, so he did all the work) The award was given to Chiefs QB Len Dawson who completed 12 of 17 passes for 142 yards (that means only 51 of his passing yards were not caught by Otis Taylor) with 1TD (To Otis Taylor) and 1INT was named MVP.

The QB is always the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl MVP and unless somebody just completely dominates, the QB will almost always be given the award, fair or unfair.
Manning won the award because of his name and popularity, but definitely not for his performance.

P.S. (I'm a Giants fan so my opinion is unbiased)

Oh and Melaniee, they can indeed give out Co-MVP's in the Super Bowl. In Super Bowl XII The Cowboys' Harvey Martin and Randy White were given Co-MVP's

OK 1, i may be a girl.
but 2, i know more about football than you think.
my dad played college football so i know a lot.

with that being said.
i did think Peyton deserved to win MVP. if he would have had bad throws the wide receiver would have not been able to get to the ball or the running back. but i do think the Rhodes deserved part of the credit too. in a situation like this where the game would have been totally different without each player i think they should be able to give out two MVP's but, its the most valuble player not most valuable players. so they look back at everything that player has done to contribute to the team, not just that game.

everyone has their opinion, and this is mine. sorry if you do not like it.

and no, i am not a colts fan, i am a saints fan. and i am being as 100% truthful as i can be.

I agree, Rhodes should have gotten it, but I am not surprised they gave it to Manning. QBs are way over-hyped in the NFL, getting too much credit for both wins and losses. The truth is that without the 1-2 punch of Addai and Rhodes, the Colts never would have won. Would have been nice to see the entire O-line get the accolade, but that doesn't seem to happen too often. Give Manning some credit though, even when the protection broke down, he threw well under pressure. Twice it looked like he was going to be sacked, and both times he completed long passes, one for a TD to Wayne.

If you are a true Bears fan, the Super Bowl MVP choice shouldnt have been the most nauseating thing. How bout Rex Grossman's 2 interception, 2 fumble game. How about the complete lack of a run game. How about the fact that there defense played soft coverage while Peyton threw underneath them the entire game. Those things might've been a little more nauseating than the choice of the Super Bowl MVP.

Hi. it really didn't matter to me who won, it was a very good game but I did wonder why Manning got MVP?
he did well, bit seems like there were a few others who had an outstanding game Rhodes for one...
maybe I don't get how they add it up to the final selection

i was with you on this the other day man, i have since seen the light. still think rhodes should have won, it was his first 100 yard game since like '01. it not just a running back that makes a running game, look what happen to edge this year. the o line was just manhandling the bears, and who was calling the right plays at the right time? the guy who won the MVP.

Im from Chicago and a huge Bears fan, but I have to admit, that he manage and controlled the clock and picked apart the Bears in a rainy day in Miami. It wasnt Peytonisque type of game as far as numbers go but nevertheless after throwing the one interception, he came back and did what it took to beat the Bears...The DBs sat back trying to avoid the big play and he simply took what the defense gave him, so he threw short and was constantly hitting 8 yard passes, and at one time they had 2/3rd more plays on offense than the miserable Bears offense (thanks RON TURNER), by then the defense was just out there too long that the offense never had enough opportunities to do something and the play calling on the Bears was just bad...Rex played bad but not the worse Ive seen. He still very young in NFL experience

Peyton lead the team to a victory. He deserved the MVP. I have played football, baseball, and hockey and I can tell that you are still not over the Bears' loss. And it also seems that you have some problems with your life, otherwise you wouldn't have made the doctor comment. Good luck with that and good luck with winning any Super Bowl with Grossman as starting QB!!!!!

Would the colts have won if peyton went down on the first snap? No.

If Rhodes had went down? Yes, because Addai could have picked up the slack.

THerefore, Peyton is the MVP

well at least we know the MVP trophy wasn't as important to him as the Lombardi Trophy.

everyone had a big role in the win...but the MVP goes to the offensive line. they just gave it to manning because he's the quarterback and they had to give it to someone, right?

manning even acknowledged during the interview after the pro bowl practice that the real MVPs of the playoffs were Dominic Rhodes and Dallas Clark.
