I am in a recent relationship (less than two months) and we haven't really been seeing much of each other recently and he wants to anarchy Valentines Day. I did mention that I hated the holiday, but I didn't mean to, it's just that we haven't spent much time together and well I put the wall back up, and he is at a distance now, so I don't get hurt or be disapointed anymore, that way he surprises me instead, yeah right. Anyway, the reason I want to know is so that maybe someone else can change my mind and help me not hate the holiday. I used to love the day, until I was dumped on the day b4, the day of, the day after, and I have never recieved anything special 4 V-Day. I long for the day where I am surprised by the person I am with and will enjoy Valentines Day once more. I don't think it is too much to ask for, in the future, for roses, a present, and a small box of candy. If it is I'm sorry for wanting that once in a while... So please tell me what you do for V-Day....

Personally, I believe it is an overly-commercialized holiday geared at couples who are naive enough to shell out money for candy, cards, and expensive jewelery. I find it appalling that we need an entire day devoted to showing love for one another. People should show love everyday, and should not need an excuse, such as Valentine's Day, to do so.

Since my father's birthday is Valentine's Day, I always celebrate that instead. I don't think it's fair that he should be expected to purchase gifts for others on his special day.

The simple truth is that it is a special day to express heart felt emotion . And if we have to mark a day for that kind of emotion , Then So Be It . It is only a pain for those who can not tolerate the idea to join in and have fun . Very sad indeed,,,,,,,,,,,from someone who knows all to well the speech on hating the holiday . )=; Tomorrow is a new day so get an early, early start on letting him know you have changed your feelings about the day . He can't give ya something if he thinks you don't want anything . Let it be known early . Otherwise you just set yourself up for the disappointment .

I love Valentine's day because the day after is when I officially started dating the man who became my husband. This year, however, we didn't do as much celebrating because 2 days before Valentine's day my husband lost his job and now we won't be able to purchase the house we were suppose to close on in two weeks. Right now a box of candy does sound simpler!

I use to be the same way about vday. I have only had one boyfriend in my life im 25 by the way!! and the one I did have we where only dating for 2 months as well when vday came around and he took me out and bought me some stuff it was really sweet and made me feel really good best vday I ever had. wellI Im single again blah blah lol. I think people take vday to seriously and people who are lonley get sad. I know some people who say hey who cares if im single ill be saving money at least lol and u could look at it that way but i love to buy people things so I dont. But vday is about love you dont half to have a bf/gf to have love in your life you have family who loves you and friends who love you very much so make the day about them and do something special with them if you just think of vday as a holiday for couples your never going to like it unless your with someone you really love and wanna be with forever.

valentines day is a crock of crapola, all it is a another day for people to make others feel pressured. if your BF or GF has to wait all year for only "holidays" to say "hey i like you i like being with you" then they suck; life is to short, you should make sure the people you love know it ALL THE TIME...

Yet another holiday besides Christmas and New Year's that's designed to make single people feel sh*tty. Sorry, but that really is my take.
