Does anyone feel their use of the world wide web comes with the price of privacy invasion?
Just wondering how others viewed this in light of the increasingly Orwellian environment we live in that is headed for a New World Order.

I think they start with the telephone directories, maybe a school mate has posted all their classmates names and graduation dates, and it goes from there. Many have had their I.D.'s stolen through computer usage, right? I looked up my name at http://howmanyofme.com/ . I'm pretty unique and not there isn't a lot out there about me unless folks paid for some reports.

I did and it was spooky. I found stuff on myself going back for YEARS. Even if you type in your email address you can find things.

Well, have you? You would probably get the same info that you have posted on myspace or yahoo 360. Or on a site looking for old classmates. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any privacy invasion. You would like just more than a nobody.

Orwellian? Not so much. Everything that is on the internet was public info to begin with and is now just easier to get. The government has always tapped phones, etc (McCarthy-ism?), and we haven't dissolved into totalitarianism yet.

But yes, I have googled my name. I'm in a very reputation based field, so I want to know what is out there about me, or about someone with the same name.
