Most computers here are cusome built machines with quality parts. Most proprietary computer manufacturers like Dell, Compaq, and Gateway use white lable parts to make a computer more affordable unless you get an expensive high end.

Ever considered Apple?? I know they are normally more expensive but they are just so worth it. They also have refurbished macs to choose from usually for much less.

I think Compaq and E-machine are also good budget companies you could try. I would go with Dell though.
