If it's a recent computer then there actually (or most likely) will not be a recovery disc. What there will be is a recovery partition on your hard drive so check for that first.

Open My Computer and from the View menu choose the Details option. Hard drives will be listed as a local disk in the type column and there will be at least one; your c drive. If you see more than one double-click on the other one and hopefully the recovery procedure will start up automatically.

Either way, you should plan on having to call Dell for assistance.

Assuming this is a WinXP here is how to reformat the drive but please do check to make sure that you do not have a recovery partition or something on your hard drive as doing this may delete that too. The recovery partition will include all the original drivers that came preinstalled on your PC.

Click Start>Settings and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Administrative Tools
Double-click Computer Management
Right-click the partition you want to reformat and then click Format
Select the options you want then click OK

That will reformat your drive yet keep your windows intact.

Best of luck.

Reformat your Hard drive?
If you had XP it would do it. If you dont you need a start up disk from windows 98 so you can fdisk it .
