Definitely check out The Great Gatsby. It's not entirely about wealth and money, but it does focus on the upper class. It's considered an American classic.

Just about any novel or short story by Henry James. Booth Tarkington's THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS is a classic (when will they release the film on DVD!?). Although I'll admit to never having read any of his 60 (!) novels, Louis Auchincloss is the pre-eminent contemporary US author of upper-crust life.

i haven't read Pride and Prejudice, but i'm retty sure that's what it's about... other than that i'm reading a historical novel called My Enemy the Queen about how high society lived during the reign of queen elizabeth... if you want more like the author and stuff e-mail me with questions.
