Routers are normally setup with this IP address 192.168.1.1. You should be able to put this address into a web browser and it will show you your router config. It may ask you for a password and if you haven't been in it before it will probably be blank or whatever the default is of your router vendor. You can get this information from documentation you have or by download from the vendor. You should look into a status area of the local area network to check the DHCP Active Table to see what machines are connected to the router at the time. If they are not connected when you are checking you should be able to turn on some logging to see who is connecting. Since they are probably connecting in thru Wireless, you can turn this off if you don't need it or disable the broadcast of your SSID and enable WEP encryption and then they should be able to connect. If you change to WEP encryption you will need to use these settings on your wireless equipment to connect.

I am not sure how to to find out who is connecting through your router but I can tell you how to prevent it (I am assuming this is a wireless router). Go into your router set up which is different for different routers but most routers come with software to install and if it didn't come with software then take a look at the directions. Anyway find the security page and look for how to set up a WEP. WEP is a password that only people with that password can connect to your router. Set this up and no one other than the people that know the password will be able to connect to the Internet through your router.

omg
i just went thru all that months ago. the exgf had reconfigured the whole system so she could tap in to my stuff from anywhere and did so even when we were together. she is a master of shadows and i don't think she understands how doing such activities actually ends up impacting yer personality and the type of person u become - its a slippery slope my friend - that's why i am a open book. just look at those who spy and hide compared to those that give access to everything - which one is anxious and which one is jazzed. my exgf did that and then she got into cocaine because she heard for women it is the ultimate sex drug [for men its mr. turtle time] so, one night i came home and she was passed out on the living room rug, naked with sex toys everywhere, empty bags of coke everywhere - but a big smile on her face - lol. i picked her up, gave her a bath, put her to bed, kissed her eyelids, then in the morning we went to therapy togther and have been happy ever since. kewl eh

Put a sniffer on your network like http://www.ethereal.com/ which is free. Then capture their surfing habits and passwords. Once you have dirt on them then ask them to pay for past services. It is illegal to share your connection and you might be the one who ends up having to pay the price. If you neighbor likes to download and upload copy protected music and the riaa will go after you not him because they have your IP address.

If one of your neighbors is connected to you system it may well illegal. But you've got a bigger problem. You system is open and NOT secure and that's your fault. As back to your neighbor I would not worry them I would just secure my firewall and not let them back in period!!! Change your passwords your channel if your on wireless not broadcast your sid.

Yes, it is. Use mywifizone to block them. Get your computers' IP addresses and block all others. The only drawback is that your computer has to be on to actively block. Use the WEP/WPA on your router/OS to assign a password/key.
