Also, how long is the process to get a passport?

Visit the US Department of State website
http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html. Here you can download and print the applications for First Time applicants or Renewal passports. Also learn about fees and required documentation to apply for a US passport.

overlook about any six month rule. some international places do require a passport of a centred visitor to proceed to be valid previous a proposed stay, in some circumstances via six months, yet there is not any prevalent rule. in spite of everything, that in hardship-free words applies to foreigners; you're neither a foreigner contained in the U. S. nor in Australia. you're in hardship-free words meant to have a valid Australian passport at the same time as transferring into or exiting Australia and a valid US passport at the same time as transferring into or exiting the U. S.. you should use any of you passports till the day it expires. that is available to renew your Australian passport contained in the U. S., yet usually it should be speedier and a lot less stressful to attempt this throughout the time of Australia. in case you intend to go back and forth in a month you ought to have a good number of time to renew your passport before you flow. As an adult Australian passport is valid for ten years and also you don't understand how lengthy you'd be contained in the U. S. it type of feels authentic seeking to renew it now.

Go to the nearest Post Office. I've seen people get them there all the time. They take the picture there also. NOTE: I'm in California.
Also, I think it takes a couple of weeks if you expedite it, and 8 weeks for routine.

Go to your local post office, and they should be able to help you. Or your town hall. The process is usually about two weeks.
