Topgun - I'm talkin about the size of the thing not the brightness. 17" is barely on the edges of visual range, I want to look at the screen without having to turn my head.

Why don't you bring down the brightness so it not so hard on the eyes.

20 inches grow to be once considered massive for a CRT demonstrate screen, and nonetheless is. yet now LCDs are being made higher (regardless of the reality that not unavoidably better effective), as they don't weigh as a lot or use as a lot table area. a lot of them are widescreen regardless of the reality that, and a 20 inch widescreen demonstrate screen could have a lot less demonstrate screen area than a 20 inch 4:3 or 5:4 demonstrate screen. So 20 inches is considered generic or slightly above generic for brand new video demonstrate contraptions.

Personally, I think the 20" is better as you will not always be sitting 18" away.
