I got an oil stain on my favorite sweater about a year ago from eating Chinese food. At the time, I thought it was hopeless to remove it, but now, suddenly, I have this urge to get rid of it... but how do I do it?

In a book I have (that has never failed me) it has 2 ways for Grease, Oil, & Tar.

Method 1: Use powder or chalk absorbents to remove as much grease as possible (you can't do b/c stain is old). Pre-treat with detergent or dry cleaning solvent(comes in Dryel kit) or liquid shampoo. Wash in hottest water safe for fabric, using extra detergent.

Method 2: Rub spot with lard and sponge with dry cleaning solvent. Wash in hottest watersafe for fabric, using extra detergent.

I actually got grease out of a carpet using the first one with the shampoo but it was a brand new stain.

convinced, get some solvent contained in the laundry aisle or sturdy element save. Pour it in a saucer, lay the stain contained in the liquid and cover with yet another saucer to resign evaporation. enable it sit in this for an hour or better. Take it out and enable the solvent air dry (outside) then cope with the realm with dish cleansing soap and wash as commonly used. Solvents should be like Energine, or hydrocarbon, even benzene. some people use brake purifier it really is bought in automobile aspects shops. it really is all solid. you may also take it to the dry cleaners and tell them about it. they have all this stuff too and for 3 or 4 money, why flow by skill of the hardship?

The best stuff for oil stains is dish soap - cuts through grease like a dream. I dunno if your stain is too old to get rid of though. Personally, I'd take it to the drycleaners and get them to do it. Might be the most effective way of getting it out.

try Dawn dishsoap. If you have dried it though, the stain may have set in.
