ok im a girl and homophobic. but not scared of gays but im scared of lesbians. am i still homophobic or what? i dont hate them or anything but i just get scared of them. and is being homophobic is bad?

Well since you are scared still, you are homophobic, because that is what 'Phobia" means, to be afraid of something.
Homophobia is somewhat of a bad thing, because you are predjudice against a certain type of people when there really is not any reason to be, when they are exactly the same as you, only the sexual orientation differs slightly to your own.

but... a lot of people are scared of homosexuals that are the same gender that they are because they're scared that they'll hit on them!
which is totally not true
just because a man is straight, for example, doesn't mean that he's going to hit on every single girl in the world
and just because a woman is lesbian, it doesn't mean that she's going to fall in love with you or stalk you or anything
gay, lesbian, transgender, and bisexual people are human beings too, and you shouldn't be scared of them
(i'm not like mad at you or anything, I'm actually veryveryVERY glad that you actually aknowledge the fact that you've got some homophobia issues)

Yes, you're still homophobic. The point is, it's irrational. You have no reason to be afraid of lesbians, yet you are. Value judgements are ultimately subjective ("good", "bad", or neutral), but it is, by definition, irrational. And, many people won't particularly like you if you're homophobic and not trying to do anything about it. Others might like you more though, so I guess it comes down to who you want to hang out with.

well being homophobic means your intoloerant, which yes, is a bad thing. on the other hand your scared of what your scared of.
maybe your scared that your going to get hit on?? just come to realize that even if they do hit on you, or look at you, they wont really go for you if they know your not gay, so it doesnt really matter. keep in mind that people like who they like and they cant always controll it, just like if you like a guy that your parents dont, you cant just stop liking them can you? you cant controll your emotions like that.

Why are you scared of lesbians? They are not going to hurt you or bother you. They are really only interested in other lesbians. Homophobia is a fear. Fear is usually a negative thing when it not based on any real danger. I doubt you are in any danger from lesbians. You may be more afraid of them because it is an unknown thing in your life. Lesbians are just like everybody else. They have jobs, raise families, and have homes. Really... is Ellen scarey? no

there is nothing wrong with you to be scared that's what makes you human. homophobic, yes but there again you are showing "fear of the same sex (homophobia) one way of being respectfull of lesbians is just say that your flattered but you are not that way. it's short sweet and to the point. therefore your not hurting any feelings to anyone.

It is bad. You are preoccupied by a fear that is groundless. Also, you are denying yourself friendships with women just because they are Lesbians.
A really good friend of mine is like you. She is totally at ease with gay guys, but in school a female teacher made a pass at her and since that time she is not comfortable around Lesbians. I always tell her it's wrong to view all Lesbians because of one oversexed cow.

Lesbians are not going to bother you. They are only interested in girls who are attracted to other girls. That would not be you! You sound young and a bit intolerant of people who are different. I bet you have come in contact with many girls who are Lesbians and not even known it. If you met me, unless I told you, you would have no idea I am a Lesbian.

yes you are. some ppl may say it is not bad, i think it may be a bit narrow minded, since you hve no reason to be scared of lesbians, but i wld hve to know u.
