(this is very stupid of me to have done, I know that, so please PLEASE no smarta** answers...) Well last year one time, I tried marijuana w/ a few friends...I have sports induced asthma and I've never had an asthma attack before, but that night I had just come back from a run and then took a few hits of marijuana..well it made me have a panic attack and I felt like I couldn't breathe, so after like 20min of this crazy attack my roomie called 911 for me, and i went in an ambulance to the emergency room. The med tech people all knew it was for smoking marijuana, and I ended up being fine, but my question is...will that episode ever show up on a background check? I remember everything that happened and I never had to make a statement of any sort, I never talked to any police or anything...

NOPE--you where never arrested, charges never filled, no investigation of any type. It will only show up if you talk about it----

You were so lucky to have been with friends that you trusted. The EMT's, (emergency medical technican), they might have thought they knew you had been tootin' a little, but as I understand with astma, smoke, perfume, all kinds of things can trigger it off. They can tell by a blood test if you had been smoking pot, I don't recall you saying if they did any tests. I would tell you not worry, I think they are more concerned with making you well, in stead of of making you feel guilty. No, it won;t show up on a background check, police didn;t make a report on it did they?, If any places ask for a drug test, which they do ramdonly now, that;s another story. Get clean, stay clean, and have some money in your pocket and not be a total airhead! Just be truthful with the prospective employer ask you about your drug use. tell him you tried it, didn;t like it, so not to worry about him coming in high! I think bosses appreciate honestly.

No it won't. Doctors usually don't like getting the police involved unless they absolutely have to (gunshot wounds, etc.) and as they didn't even ask you about marijuana, they would never just assume you smoked it and put it in your formal records. Plus, background checks only go over criminal history not medical.

No. It won't show up. If it does, lie. It's as easy as that.
Sorry to hear about your adverse reaction. That's strange because the other day an old Jamaican man was telling me that when he was a boy he always had asthma, that it was painful, that he could barely drink. Once he started smoking ganja, his asthma cleared up and he felt a lot better.
Irie.

Thanks to Bush, your medical records are available to just about everyone. Hopefully, the docs weren't stupid and didn't put this on your medical record.
So, if you apply for a job where the background check includes access to your medical records, not only insurance billing which won't include this info, but the actual hospital records, then they can find out. It's highly unusual that a background would be checked to this degree.

the marijuana was NOT the reason you went to the ER. Weed just doesnt do that. if weed puts you in the ER its time to reevaluate your life.
Dont listen to anyone saying "be clean, dont be an airhead". Marijuana helps cancer patients with pain and appetite. I guess they shouldnt be "airheads" and just suffer huh?
