Father’s Day Mother’s Day - to honor parents
Washington’s Birthday - to honor the father of the US
Hanukkah - to celebrate a miracle
Christmas - to celebrate Jesus's b-day
President’s Day - to honor our current and past presidents (but really it is only a bank holiday.
Veterans Day - to honor people who have served their country
Thanksgiving - to eat j/k to celebrate coming to a new world and sharing a meal with the natives of that country (but of course there is some controversy on this one)
Election Day - didn't realize this was a holiday, more like a reminder on the calendar to go vote
Martin Luther King Day - to honor a great role model and leader
Lincoln's Birthday - to honor a president and the person who freed the slaves
Independence Day - to honor the US freedom

Father/Mother's Day: to honor and show appreciation to your parents also so the corp. can make money

Washington's Birthday: b/c he was the 1st president of the US and it's our way of honoring and remembering a great leader

Hanukkah: b/c we have a large pop. of Jewish folk here the US

Christmas: b/c we have a large pop. of Christian folk here the US

Veterans Day: to remember the men who fell in action while protecting your sorry @ss

Thanksgiving: to give honor to the first settlers..b/c if it wasn't for them you wouldn't be here right now living in a free nation

Election Day: well why the hell not! *shrug* another reason to get drunk

Martin Luther King Day: to honor and remember a great leader who fought for equality of ALL men...just like it says in the constitution.

Lincoln's B-day: to honor and remember a great leader who abolished an absolutely horrible thing...slavery

Independence Day: to remind us our forefathers fought and died for our freedom that we have today.

Father's Day- Appreciate the guy who donated half of your chromosomes to create you.
Mother's Day- Carrying you in her body for 9 months and what ever it took to create you and expel you.
Hanukkah- I'm not Jewish, but it is a important time for them so be nice.
Christmas- Has become too commercialized for my liking, its to celebrate the gift of Jesus Christ even though they say He wasn't born in December.
Veterans Day-For those that have served your country with their dedication and lives, included in that is my dad, uncles, husband, cousins, brother-in-law. My husband is a veteran of wartime he served in Bosnia and Kosovo and will be going to Iraq in May.
Thanksgiving- Aren't you thankful? And do you give thanks on more than just one day?
Martin Luther King Day-Gives honor to a man that changed the country's views on how they treated African Americans. Civil Rights Movement.
Lincolns Birthday-To honor the man that helped change the way our country was created- North and South=Civil War.
Independence Day- Our country's birthday and date we separated ourselves from Great Britain/English rule.

hannukah..The jewish version of Christmas..

Christmas -- Religious holiday, day that the lead prophet of Christianity was born.

Veterans Day -- celebrate those who died at war

Thanksgiving -- Day to celebrate living in general

Independence Day -- day the US told Britain to leave

MLK Day -- day MLK was born?!

THe other Presidents (washington and lincoln) are celebrated b/c they were key individuals in US history..

From the begining of time Humans as a species have loved celabration...a reason to get together with the tribe and put all the ugliness behind and have some fun. Its human insinct to party believe it or not.

First of all Election Day isn't a national holiday and it isn't celebrated. The other holidays are celebrated because they mean something to a significant portion of the American people.
