OK. I just asked this but some wisecrack idiots did some distorting of my question.

My girlfriend is 17. I am 18. We are going to get an Apartment together in August. Her parent is prepared to sign any papers needed. When we get the apartment, I'll be 19 but she'll still be 17 for a few months. Instead of just waiting for the few months, we figured it would be most convenient so that she doesn't have to transfer schools midyear.

My question is what papers will her parent need to sign so that she can legally live there.

Depends on the state. In some states you can live on your own at 17...which always seemed dumb to me since you can't sign leases. So all you might need is for them to sign the lease with you.

Actually, she can apply to become an emancipated minor and then she can legally sign her name to any contract because she will be considered an adult. The tabacco and alcohol laws still apply, but she can sign contracts, rental leases, etc.

I believe she needs to be emancipated.
