Heat is a form of Energy.

Addition or Subtraction of heat energy to/from a substance will change the temperature or the state of the substance.

Addition of heat = Higher temperature (+ Sensible Heat) or, change of state (+ Latent Heat) i.e. from solid to liquid (Fusion) or liquid to vapour (Vaporisation)

Removal of heat = Lower temperature (- Sensible Heat) or, change of state (- Latent Heat) i.e.from vapour to liquid (Condensation) or liquid to solid (Freezing)

All of these changes involve a change in the motion of the molecules of the substance.
