Yes; it's 2/3.

-- start with 258/387;
-- divide numerator and demominator by 3; get 86/129;
-- then divide again by 43; get 2/3.

2*129 = 258 and 3*129 = 387, so 258/387 = 2/3

yep. And here's a little secret of numbers...

ANY number can be divided by 3, provided that all of its digits add up to a multiple of 3. So...

258 ---- 2+5+8 = 15 (which is 3*5, a multiple of 3)
387 ---- 3+8+7 = 18 (which is 3*6, also a multiple of 3)

Therefore, both numbers are divisible by 3, pretty cool huh? (only works for numbers divisible by 3 however)

And the answer to your question is 2/3...

2/3 is the lowest that it can be reduced. What a bunch of lunkheads tried to answer the question and came up with something different.

Good question. You need two steps to answer. First, if 387 is prime, it can't be reduced. It isn't, so go to step two, and find a common factor to each. Off the bat, I see 9 as a factor, so you get 28 / 43. Now go back to step one. 43 is prime, so this is as far as you go.
