Any one know if there is a better online degree program for Military personnel other than UofP? I am in the Coast Guard in Port Security, so my schedule is very chaotic. I want to further my education but a traditional school is impossible. I read that online degrees aren't worth it, but I also heard that it doesn't matter with life/work experience. Any one have any input on the matter? Thanks in advance.

You are smart to ask this question, since most employers do not give much credence to degrees from "online universities" like University of Phoenix / Axia, AIU, Capella, Penn Foster, etc. Degrees from these places are actually laughed at in academia.

However, you CAN further your education at a traditional school!

Many longstanding, regionally accredited, and completely reputable state universities now offer courses and even degrees online. This is called "distance education."

The links below are the absolute best you will find. They contain more links to many well-respected state university distance education programs, including the ones mentioned by other answerers, and so many more.

Best wishes to you!

Lots of traditional colleges offer non-traditional courses of study for military personnel that you can complete from where ever you may go.

MANY traditional state universities, and even many fine private institutions like Harvard, first link below, offer distance learning programs. You don't have to resort to the for-profit colleges like UoP who exist to make a profit.

I've given you a few links to a few programs that exist. Contact your college of choice to see if they have similar programs available for you.

Best of luck to you.

Why not finish your tour then go to a traditional school on the GI Bill.

I am not a big fan of Online Schools (i.e. University of Phoenix) but I do like online classes from traditional schools.
