on my main computer but for some reason the files wont play. I have tried everything but no sound. it keeps comin up in itunes player and i want windows media player set as my default player. I dont know if this is why they wont play, but it use to.

setting the default player is easy enough.

go to your folder options (under tools in any system folder) and hit the file types tab. from there you can select any file extension (such as .mp3) and choose which program to use by default.

You can also right click the file itself and use the open with command.

As for sound.....are there any other problems with system sound or just these files? Are these files in the same compression you're used to using? (are they mp3's or did you grap a different format)

recheck that your system sound is ok, then check that the files are in a compression that you can play properly, then if necessary try updating or reinstalling windows media player. You can uninstall media player in add/remove under 'show window's components' then just grap a new install off the microsoft site. It's possible either some system files or the media player's files became corrupted.

Open windows media player then browse to the file you want to listen to. If you want to change the default application for specific filetypes click your heels together 3 times and say "booyakasha"

set your windows media play as the default play .. if you have the music files on your computer then just right click on onr of them go to open with . then click on the media play icon from ..open with menu and windows media play will play the file . if it is not the right format file then download HT-MPEG -Encoder and reconvert it too mpg file then it will play

try to DL the winamp. It's free. i use it all the time and it never gives me any problem. I don't use windoe media player because it takes too long to load. just go to www.winamp.com and use the basic one. It's FREE. try it. ;)

Are you speakers muted, because i know that happens to me alot!
If they aren't the file might have gotten corrupted some how :\
