Probably the closest to downtown Pasadena (near city hall) is at Paseo Colorado (between Colorado and Green, Marengo and Los Robles). You will find the Yard House and P.F. Changs there (both good for dinner and drinks), along with shops and a movie theater. It's a good area to walk around, too.

Old Pasadena, a few blocks west of Paseo Colorado, is an even better place to walk around. Some good restaurants there are Mi Piace (on Colorado), Twin Palms (on Green) and Il Fornaio (in the alley near Union). There are a lot of other restaurants and bars in the area, but those three stand out to me as being a good place to have a drink and to have a good dinner.

Old Town Pasadena is the stretch of Colorado Blvd. between the Arroyo Parkway and Pasadena Ave. It's a great place to wander around (shops, restaurants, bars).

I love having a pint or two on the back patio of Lucky Baldwins Irish Pub.
