He's a very skilled player and fun to watch. I think Ontario is shocked that someone with that much skill serves up a better wine and cheese than they do. We would have thought Ontario had the market cornered in that one.
I agree with jealousy. Living on the west coast and a Vancouver fan, I hated Gretzky during his Edmonton years. Wasn't until later when he moved on, and started to be so involved in Team Canada that I liked him.

Well lets be honest about these teams... Crosby has solid players around him including guys like Malkin. Who does Ovechkin have? Nobody! Ovechkin gets no help from his team because that do not have anyone close to the level of a Malkin. Its hard to do that much with no help. I think they are both equal on offense, maybe Ovie gets the slight edge. Crosby is a better defensive player, Ovechkin is much more physical than Crosby. Overall its almost even. I bet if Ovechkin was on the Penguins he would easily put up the same numbers if not better.

Who are you listening to? TSN? They have analysis based all over the country, so you can't link TSN with Ontario (in fact TSN treats the Leafs below other teams, they always feature the other Canadian teams before the Leafs. I think it's a CBC jealousy thing)
People like Crosby in Ontario, but many think he plays a soft game.
I love the anti-ontario comments... Sucks to live in boring places huh?

Jealousy.
No one should "hate" Crosby. He could draw great interest to the sport, like Gretzky did in the 80's.
The NHL has great young talent. Now we just need Gary Bettman to quit/retire/get fired.

Not really. I'm from Toronto, and I think Crosby's still a little crybaby who hasn't matured yet into playing with men. Yes, he's got tons of talent, but he's a poor respresentative of Canadian hockey. Has nothing to do with him being from Nova Scotia.

It used to be the same the with Gretzky back in the day. He was an awkward skater, couldn't fight, a cherry-picker, etc. blah blah blah. It's the same with Crosby.

Uh... what hockey experts are you listening to? Most of them here either love him or don't care either way. Just because one or two hockey analysts don't like him, doesn't mean everyone doesn't.

I am not from that area , but I think it is because most people think he is soft and gets special treatment on the ice. I hope he stays healthy and turns out to be great it would be good for the game. I wish the Rangers had him.

Ontario thinks they are the center of the universe, just look at Leafs fans. Crosby is undeniably the hottest player in the NHL right now and everyone knows that whether they like him or not.
