It's a difficult thing to realize your government has lied to you and led thousands of your countrymen into a war that cannot be won. People where I grew up still believe in Bush. They don't want to acknowledge that the soldiers are being injured and dying over a lie. They want to believe this war is about bringing democracy to Iraq because they still believe we have democracy in America. For many Americans ignorance IS bliss when it comes to Iraq.

funny, i was thinking the exact same thing when i read your question about the supposed blood on bush's hands. it is indeed astounding, the ignorance that some people harbour. anyway, i couldn't tell you why they are so ignorant, but i can say that it has been stated very clearly from the beginning that the situation in iraq has very little to do directly with the september 11th attacks. iraq's support of terrorists, though maybe not those involved in the attacks, and hussein's own use of terror tactics in governing his country along with the real possibility of him eventually turning those tactics on the rest of the world, are the reasons we invaded iraq.

Agreed. The invasion of Iraq is merely a front in the war on terrorism. The whole point of going into Iraq was that they were believed to be a significant risk (i.e. developing WMDs, harboring/supporting terrorist organizations, etc.)
Iraq was a probable INDIRECT cause of terrorist events such as 9/11. Note Iraq's funding of the Palestinian martyrs - something that isn't so disputed as a connection to Al Qaeda.

Because people believe what they want to hear. They want to believe that this war in Iraq that has more meaning then oil and money for Bush & Co. People would feel stupid if they said they were wrong about the war, and that it wasn't called for.

I agree with you. I believe the 9/11 terrorists were Egyptians and Saudis (correct me if I'm wrong).
