The answer to this question at present is 2; they are Phobos & Deimos. But the answer to this question would be 1 after 250-300 years because scientists say that phobos is fast decreasing in size due to its continuous encounters with comets, asteroids, etc., & that a comet will strike Phobos in about 250-300 years, which will ultimately be responsible for its extinction from the universe. Poor Phobos, what a pity!

Mars has two moons; Deimos and Phobos.

Both are irregular shaped rocky masses which were probably
asteroids that passed close by Mars at some point in time and
got trapped into orbit around the planet by the gravitational pull of Mars.

Phobos orbits around the Moon in 7 hours and 39 minutes (our time). Deimos orbits around Mars every 30 hours and 18 minutes (our time). Mars itself revolves completely around every 24 hours and 37 minutes (our time).
