Yes, you can buy a "USB housing" which will allow you to use an internal drive as an external.
Be aware, though, that you can probably buy a complete external drive for the same money, or less.

Yes, buy a USB 2.5 inch IDE or SATA hard drive enclosure install the old laptops hard drive connect to your new laptop wait for it to recognize the new hardware open the now external HD and reformat or copy the files or delete the files as needed. You will have to know if the old hard drive is SATA or IDE this depends on the age and model of the old laptop. Cost $10.00 up.

Yeah you can, just get an external enclosure for your internal hard-drive. I have seen it done many times.

you can used as external hard drive trough USB port sometimes laptop won't read your external hard drive you might need to update the drive by add new hard ware from your control panel...

hard disk (external) case with usb cableattachment find em at best buy or if you can wait go on e bay... if all your looking for is disk space you should just buy an already portable hdd they are pennies on the dollar in price of cases
