Kobe scored 81 points in a game against the Toronto Raptors last year, who were 2nd to last in the league in points allowed at 104.1 per game.
McGrady scored 13 points in a span of 33 seconds against the San Antonio Spurs, which consisted of 4 three pointers and 1 free throw.
Which performance would you rank higher?

I'd pick T-Mac's performance. In my opinion, 13 points in 33 seconds in a clutch comeback situation to win the game 81-80 against the best team in the league during that season (04-05) with BRUCE BOWEN all over him will rank higher than Kobe's 81 against one of the worst teams in the league during the 05-06 season. Also, McGrady's freethrow came from a fourpoint play which are quite rare by themselves. Winners are defined by their clutch moments - not the usual quantity.

Without a doubt 81 points is better because not only do you have to shoot well the entire game, the other team realizes that you're doing well and progressively play better defense on you. It's one thing to get hot at the right time and get the ball enough to score 13 pts in 33 seconds, but T-Mac was like 11-28 or something the entire game, so it's not like he blew up on the Spurs or anything. Kobe had to not only help his team come back from a deficit against the raptors, he also single handidly outscored them in the second half. This even after they were double and even triple covering him. He plain and simply had his way with their defense. I havent looked but i'm sure that many people have done similar things that T-Mac has done, but how many people have ever scored over 80 points in a game? Wilt did it back in the day by sheer dominance. Kobe did it in an age where people are gettin faster, defenses are playing smarter and teams are gettin tougher to score on, that just says tons about how he is able to take over a game.

81 pts is better. Many nba players can make 10, 15, 30, AND EVEN MORE three pointers in a row. Tracy mcgrady was just lucky that everything happened in the right place at the right time. Impressive? Yes. But many NBA players can do what he did, if everything was going for them (the steals, the fouls. etc...) But to get 81 pts is just mind blowing. No one has come close. U must be thinking, HOW ABOUT WILT. Well, wilt's competition was much worse, many of those players couldn't compete in the nba today. Wilt's team was actually TRYING to make him get 100 points. they were FEEDING HIM every single time down. And when they knew wilt couldn't reach 100 points, they started intentionally fouling just so wilt could get the ball back and score. They did a thing on ESPN and proved it MATHEMATICALLY how kobe's 81 was greater than wilt's 100.

Without Phil jackson as a coach and all good players around Kobe. He would not have any rings by now. Prime Shaq was the big factor that the Lakers won those 3 championships. Without good supporting cast kobe won't be able to go anywhere. Where were the Lakers in 2004-2007? What happened when Shaq left the Lakers and went to Maimi heat? Heat won the 2006 championship that's what happened. He had like Odam and Bynum and he still can't win anything till Gasol came to the Lakers. Why do you think Lebron can't win championship if he was on the lakers? Are you kidding me? He took a crappy Cavs team to the final in 2007 all by himself and he took the Cavs to playoffs 5 years straight. Look at the cavs now without Lebron. Lebron was the main reason why they were in the playoffs. He was one of the offense machine on the Cavs team. Don't put crap like Shaq or big Z. Even before Shaq joined them they went to the finals and hd 66-16 record.

81 pts. 13 in 33 is fantastic, but to score 81 points means your in the zone THE WHOLE GAME. T-Mac just got hot for a short period of time, but with Kobe, everybody knew what was coming and STILL couldn't stop it. They were double and triple teaming but NOTHING was working. For a GUARD to drop 81 points, is absolutely INSANE and will stand forever just like Wilt's record.

I think 81 points is better because you have to work at getting those points through a long period of time. Remember that the 81 points is the second highest scoring in a single game

I'm not a fan of either player although they each have their moments of brilliance.

I don't care who you are but 81 points against ANYONE is incredible.

The fact that TMac actually got the ball that many times in that short of a time span says more about the Spurs' ability to control the ball and play defense than anything. Hitting four threes and a freebie (even without missing) isn't anything unusual in this league... I simply wish I could do it in a game situation.

81 points in a single game hands down

Depends.

81in a game if you carried your team to a win

13 in 33 sec if it resulted in a win.

In my opinion, the 81 in a game was more impressive, because there just aren't many players that can go for that long doing that much against anyone.
