well i heard about somthing called audacity.

Yes-there is one that I know about and it's a sure thing.
rapspace.tv Seriously, check it out. You have to register just like you did for Y/A n then you can mix, record and receive feedback about your jam/vocals.

try using adobe audition, (once known as cool edit pro)
