Hopefully your IT folks set it up the way it is suppose to be..

Normally, Connecting to a VPN is very much similiar to webbing into your bank account..

When you web to your bank account, you browsers goes secure and you get that little lock icon.....them you input your bank account and password..

Very similiar to VPN'ing.... The to PC's establish a secure connection between the two.....then you enter you username and password.....

It really depends.

The computer you are on can be unsecure or secure. You wont know. You wont know is there any key logging program inside the computer. If there is, the inital part where you log into the system, it is insecure, the moment you went in, Information you do inside the network will not be tapped.

Let say its your computer, but you using an insecure network to enter a secure network. Then your company should have a program dial up to enter the network inorder to be secure. If it is a dial up on a website, then there is a chance where intrudsion will occur before you do the dial up on the website.

So in short, If you want to go into VPN of your company, at other country, use your own computer, ask your IT to provide you a dial up protection program,(not all will have) and then you can dial up anywhere when inside a network.

If the vpn is set up right, certain security protocols have to be met before access is granted.
