"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

What??? I don't think anyone deserves to die. Some people are very proud and honored to serv there country and that's why they volunteer. If it wasn't for these volunteers which is about 90% of the military then who would protect your sorry but. I think it take a great person an honorable person to stand and volunteer to defend there Country and their country men. Wow I can even believe you was thinking such a thing or wondering it. GOD BLESS ALL ARE MEN AND WOMEN OUT THERE. WE LOVE YOU AND ARE PRAYING FOR YOUR SAFE RETURN

Theres more then an Iraq civil war a stake here. This goes so much deeper then your mind could understand. And as far as policy goes, if you don't what to go to war then don't join the military...Yes, its hard to understand but the military is for war purposes and not for whatever you think its for.

That is a ridiculous question. Nobody deserves to die, period.

I guess the options COULD be either have a strictly non-volunteer military, but the citizens wouldn't like that too much or the other option would be that we have no standing military force anyways and just let chaos reign in our country.

Which one? Volunteer, non-volunteer (forced service), or none at all?

Well, they know when they sign up that going to war and DYING is a possiblity. At least we have it better than the last generation; they got drafted!

Of course not. With the exception of a handfull of nuts who disrupt funerals, nobody thinks our soldiers deserve to die.

Could you tell me where I can find this "POLICY" or is it still hanging outta your hind parts?
What a ridiculous thought! How about "if you're afraid to volunteer, you don't deserve to live in this country"?

Who's policy is that? Doesn't belong to anyone I know of...Libs or Cons. What the heck would young men do and how would they react if the 'draft' were brought back. Now they go by choice.

Not exactly, but you do have to do it if they ask you to. Anyway, none of this really matters because if I were president in 2000, we wouldnt have even gotten into this war.
