I think a lot depends on your style of music. For example: "Nine inch nails" (as in the ones for a coffin) was perfect for their dark style of music. If you are serious about your music, your name should probably reflect that. If you are just jamming with some friends you might want a more joking name like "Harry and the smelly armpits." Names using puns and homophones are also popular (Beatles etc....) Personally, I prefer names that are clever, yet make some kind of statement. When I was in a band we were thinking of the name " Branded cow posers".

Well, the names Cap'n Crunch and the Cereal Killers, and The Broken Treehouse Inspektors are already taken, so i'd go with Too Cheap For Abortion. Or perhaps Helleborne.
