I have an ebay and paypal account, the paypal account is linked to a bank account and i have no money in the paypal account, only in the bank. If i buy an item on e-bay, do I need to transfer the money into paypal beforehand, or will paypal automatically ask me to pay it from my bank account?

No, you don't have to transfer the money from your bank into PayPal before you buy an item on ebay. After you buy the item, PayPal will ask you to transfer the money from your bank account or put it on your credit card.

As long as it is linked to your bank account and there is money in your bank account you do not need to transfer money to your paypal account. When you go to pay Paypal will ask you to do what is known as an instant transfer and it will take the money from your bank account.
