It depends on what you want to make into crystals. But here's what I generally do when I want to make crystals:

Method 1
1. Find a solvent that the material is soluble in.
2. Heat it up
3. Add just barely enough hot solvent to dissolve the material
4. Let cool down. Material should form crystals.

Method 2
1. Find a solvent that the material is soluble in.
2. Find a solvent that the material is insoluble in, which also freely mixes with the first solvent.
3. Dissolve the material in a minimum amount of solvent 1.
4. Add solvent 2 slowly until solution turns cloudy.
5. Add a drop of solvent 1; solution should turn clear again.
6. Put in refrigerator.
