No, at least not in the literal sense.

But there have been four U.S. Presidents who WERE cheerleaders, including Teddy's cousin (which may be the source of the mistake):

Franklin D. Roosevelt (Harvard)
Dwight D. Eisenhower (West Point Academy)
Ronald Reagan (Eureka College)
George W. Bush (head cheerleader at Phillips Academy)

"Cheerleader"? I guess it depends on what you mean. Is this a quote from someone, or an analysis of a commentator? What is the context? At the least, Theodore Roosevelt was a whole lot more than the commonly undestood meaning of the word "cheerleader" .

If you mean was Theodore Roosevelt just a spectator rather than a participant,.......absolutely not. He believed in the "Vigorous Life", and lived life in an active sense for all of his life.

He was a cheerleader in his college years at Yale. This was considered normal in those days. For a good film version of those years, see the 1979 film 'Teddy' staring Julian Ashcroft.
