Well, I use to have Mcafee that I paid for and it was perfect I never had any viruses my computer ran perfect. Then I got cheap and opted for the free version from my internet provider and it sucks. I have to scan my computer more consistently and I still end up with some viruses that get through and my computer runs much slower because the program that I had to download is huge. I would opt for the protection you have to pay for it has that extra something that the free protection just can't offer....YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET...

The answer is, they aren't any better than the free ones, and actually not as good as two of the best, Avast and AVG. I've used Avast free home version for over 3 years and never had a virus problem. Of course you get what you pay for. I've had excellent protection and service from mine for nothing for 3 years!

I doubt that the paid variations of anti-virus courses stumble upon any better viruses any better effective than the unpaid variations. It would not be contained in the corporation's best pastime to have their unpaid variations be worse than the paid version. people would not purchase them. i have used Kaspersky, AVG and now Avast all unpaid and that all of them artwork properly. I visit some volatile web pages and Avast has finished properly in detecting threats. If I were going to position down some funds i ought to purchase Kaspersky.

AVG FREE - http://www.grisoft.com
ZONEALARM - http://zonelabs.com
I have used both of these since the day they were created, and have NEVER had a problem. Matter of fact, I ran a test through symantec, and they couldn't "find" my computer. Stealth mode is the best. I won't say that I am invulnerable, but so far, so good. Of course, I wouldn't recommend anyone step on my porch if they know what's good for them.

The difference would be in the scanning engine, most likely. More options for you to choose from and other services that related to general computer protection that aren't covered by "anti-virus".

Without getting tecnical, the bottom line is: They're not. Just download AVG or AVAST. I've never paid, and never had a problem. It's all marketing IMO.

what I think is if it's free, i don't think it works as well as the one you paid for, basically the free one is like a sample.
