I recently purchased a brand new pair of jeans and they are a little too long in length. I want to shrink them but dont want it to supershrink. What is the best way to shrink but not overshrink? If i just hang them to dry after i wash them, will it shrink at all or no?

This pair of jean is the same brand/same style of jeans that i have been buying for the past years. Its just different color. I had a pair of jeans hemmed before even wore them and i washed them and dried them in the machine. What a mistake.

Can you all answer my other question?: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am4fEO58kqp_TZ7izFdTasTsy6IX?qid=20070207175026AAeZXbp

What exactly does "tumble dry low" mean? My dryer doesnt exactly say that, it has:AUTO DRY REGULAR; more dry - less dry, AUTO DRY EASY CARE/PERMANENT PRESS; more dry - less dry, and TIME DRY/AIR FLUFF with up to 60 minute setting. In the pass ive used TIME DRY/AIR FLUFF and that is what made my jeans shrink i think. So should i use maybe AUTO DRY REGULAR with either more dry or less dry setting? I dont know. I just want to know so that i can shrink them the first time cause i have washed them yet and after that, imma natural dry it. Thanks for your help

I would wash and dry them according to the label...most clothes will shrink a little. I wouldn't wash in hot water just because they make shrink too much and you probably don't want to risk that. If they don't shrink to the size you want you can get them professionally tailored or you can tailor them yourself.

get them tailored. just be sure to wash and dry them before you have them shortened. that way length will be OK. most pants usually shrink approximately 1/4" with normal washing.

Just get them taken up professionally. That way you will get them the perfect length for you and all the shoes you want to wear with them.
Then you don't have to worry about them shrinking in the wrong places.

Wash in cold water. Hang to dry. Won't shrink....won't fade either

Can you not just take them up at the cuffs? If not, any tailer or alterations place can do it for you. It's a lot less risky than trying to shrink them.

even if you shrink them, they will still be too long. just take them to get hemmed.
