Emotions are feelings, feelings come from thoughts. You can control your thoughts thus you can control your emotions. You alone control what enters into your head as a thought. If you don’t believe this, just answer this question, “ If you don’t control your thoughts who does?”
You have the power to think whatever you choose to let into your head If something just “pops” into your head you choose to put it there, though you may not know why, you still have the power to make it go away. Your feelings come from your thoughts. You can’t have a feeling without first having a thought.
If you can control your thoughts then you can control your feelings. Once you have control over your feelings you can neutralize emotions. The ability to neutralize negative emotions, and to be aware of your behavior is a relatively new area being studied known as Emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence is the ability of a person to control their behaviors and emotions in relationship with others. When people interact, the person with the widest range of flexibility in behavior, and emotion will always have the upper hand. When you can control your emotions you are able to think more clearly, stay focused, negotiate conflict, manage others, communicate, and solve problems more effectively. A refined communication method gives for more power to influence others. A persons communication style is an indicator of intelligence. (All leading to success)

This is a quick answer to a complicated question. Basically, intelligence is a stable construct, that is, it is something that pretty much stays the same but that doesn't mean that a person stops learning. Emotions are temporary states that have nothing to do with IQ, although emotional intelligence is a process of its own. The only time emotions really interfere with intelligence is when a person is taking an IQ test. If a person is really upset or anxious, they may not perform well the day they take the test, thus interfering with the IQ outcome, which is represented by a number. So, emotional stress can interfere with IQ test results, but emotions do not really interfere with one's overall intellect, which becomes stable prior to adulthood.

There is IQ and there is EQ. Science still has not given much study into EQ.

That being said. The little that is known. The higher the IQ the lower the EQ the lower the IQ the higher the EQ. Intelligence vs. Emotions is very interesting and you have asked a very important question.

No our destiny is not fixed by ANYTHING. Our destiny is determined by our attitudes regarldess of our emotions or smarts that we have.

No, but emotions can affect your ability to make decisions. If you are angry you are more likely to do something stupid in revenge. If you are sad, you might not want to do the stuff you should do.
