i had a friend ask a question i'm not sure how to answer. he works as a mover, and while on a job, the customer he was moving started shouting and swearing at him. While he didn't go into detail, the word he used (and he really doesn't know much english), was descrimation, stating the person was commenting on the way he looked and talked.

my friend is really upset at this guy, and wants to sue, but he's unsure how to proceed.

If anyone reading this can help, i'd appreciate it.

thanks,
Rpoteat

I doubt it, I would think it would be free speech unless he threatened the guy's life or something. If you are talking about a racial slur then no, my sister tried to file a complaint against a girl who called her something along those lines and the police said it was a matter of free speech.

Hahaha, no. You can be as discriminatory as you want as a person. We can't outlaw thoughts. We can't outlaw jerks. Little thing called the 1st Amendment. Freedom of speech.

Stupid trial lawyers have gotten Americans into the habit of wanting to sue for every stupid little thing.

Your friend should grow a backbone. He wasn't discriminated against, he only heard language he considered offensive.
