I dont think there is any problems w/mouse as such otherwise it'd not have worked the 1 time it did. once when i booted the comp it said that the mouse shld be inserted in the ps/2 slot n pc switched on again. although it was plugged in. i did it again n swirched the pc on, but still in vain. after a few hrs i shut/switched off the pc and switched on and the mouse was working until i opened a new tab in the browser that the comp just went blank. i restarted and the mouse stopped working. what could be the problem, looks like driver , mmeory i think. if u do have a solution please try to anser the query. thanks.

Try the mouse in a different PC or try a different mouse on your current PC to determine if it's the mouse or the computer.

Mice typically do not need special drivers. Usually I recommend not using the software that comes with keyboards & mice because the built in Windows drivers usually work better and all too often I've seen keyboard & mouse drivers cause other issues. The only reason to use the software that comes with a keyboard & mouse would be to get full functionality of any special buttons the keyboard or mouse might have. Usually it's buttons on the keyboard (not the mouse) for controlling music software like iTunes (play, stop, skip, volume control, etc) and other stuff like that.

You could have a mouse port problem also. If that is the case then the only way to fix it would be to replace the motherboard but alternatively you could buy a USB mouse so that you don't have to use the PS2 mouse port which would save you the cost of a new motherboard if that's what it turns out to be. It also could be some other software issue like a virus or spyware so it could be worth scanning for that as well with good and up to date antivirus software.

Any laptop device will work on a PC. As mentioned the only issues there'd be is the size of the mouse will be smaller, and possible signal range. Desktop wireless mice have an antenna deal that you can place around your computer, since this one is right on the USB plug, the mouse will have to be close enough to work properly. If your desktop has front loading USB ports this might not be a problem.

you may need to replace the hardware entirely and then plug your mouse in. then restart. update your computer right now and you may get it recognize on your hardrive.

Just install it if you haven't already and if you have all you need to do is re-install it and the drivers for it.
