I think that is one of the main reasons we haven't attacked Iran. The world economy would tank. Not just the US economy, the entire world. We need to free ourselves from this oil grip they have over us and the way to do it is to start drilling here. From what I am told, we have plenty to supply all our needs. And, in the meantime, start finding a viable alternative.

There isn't anything that would stop them from crippling most of the worlds oil supply. And not only by stopping their oil shipments (which are 2nd only to Saudi Arabia) but they could shut down the entire Persian Gulf by blocking the Strait of Hormuz the narrowest point in the Persian Gulf and that would be a total catastrophe for the world economy especially China who gets 90% of their oil from Iran/Persian Gulf countries.

Actually, the majority of our food is supplied by animal and plant sources. It's only transported by truck....but there is also train transport, of which they could use the electric engines, or diesel. Secondly, why worry about Iran's oil? I mean, who really cares? The US has thousands of miles of untapped oil resources in the nation and I'm certain drilling contracts can be negotiated with Canada as well.

Why do people worry about foreign oil, when we do have enough of our own.

the answer is about two countries over from Iran... there is Afghanistan... then.... China...

China gets quite a bit of their oil, if I remember correctly... and smart people don't make the Chinese angry...

I mean... if you were Iran... would you want to make America and china angry... I think not... you need some friends somewhere...

they aren't that suicidal...

We need to switch to an economy based on clean coal, nuclear power, and renewable energy sources. We should also bill big oil for the costs for securing their rights to foreign oil.

That is always a possibility. More likely would be sabotage against other oil production facilities. It's not that hard if you are not only willing but eager to die in the process.

If the nature Nazi's here in the U.S. would actually allow exploration and drilling HERE, we could tell the rest of the world to stick it. It's aggravating to hear people say we need to be less dependent on foreign oil. But these same morons don't want us to drill here. Figure that one out.
