Since I don't live in your area I have come to depend on a Pet Rat Breeder Directory called The Ratster, http://www.ratster.com/, to help others find their ratties.

The breeders listed here are reputable and breed for only pets, so they take care with their breeding programs. There could be a breeder in your area?

Can't find a breeder? Your other options are:
Classified ads in your local newspaper might reveal a rat that needs to be rehomed.
Humane Societies
Rodent Rescues

you should have gotten a friend for her when you got her, as now you will have to go through q-tine time, which should be about 4 wks JUST to make sure that your new rat has no illnesses and that the rattie you currently have has no illnesses that might crop up.

Otherwise.

www.ratster.com you can look up breeders by state. also www.petfinder.org is a good place to find shelter ratties

No, but NC is horrendously overpopulated with small animals. Why not try Raleigh Rodent Rescue? They've always got tons of rats.
