It just seems like I am smarter, given an 18 yr old did the same test and was 24.8. wouldn't my mental age be more????

Well, every IQ test has different questions, so it's relatively subjective. We cannot say for sure whether you're smarter, but there's a high probability that you are.
You have to understand that even the way IQ tests are put together has changed throughout the years. You can read more about it in the wikipedia at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iq_test
IQ tests available online (like the one available at http://www.goiqtest.com/ ) have different criterias as well, some are cultural adjusted, some measure different sorts of intelligence. So there is no smoking gun answer to your question.

where did you have this test done?
I would highly recommend http://www.mensa.org and tell me if the results still the same.
