Here are the pros and cons for each system:
PS3 Pro:
1. Blu-ray
2. Lots of PS2 sequels
3. Lots of 3rd party support
4. Next gen graphics
5. Internet access
PS3 Con:
1. Blu-ray.
2. Expensive
3. Sixaxis (don't think most games are going to take advantage of it)
Wii Pro:
1. Great when gaming with other people
2. Wii-mote
3. Lots of grade A first party games
4. Cheap
5. More 3rd party support than Gamecube
Wii Con:
1. No next gen graphics
2. Wii-mote (legit or fad)
3. As as many 3rd party support as PS3
Get both systems as well as the 360, if you can. It's the only way to truly enjoy being a gamer.

I've been a Sony person for ages as far as gaming goes, but let's face it.
The Nintendo Wii has the other consoles beat because of its innovation with the remote. Graphics-wise, it has the same level as the Game Cube. But the controller makes up for that.
Besides, why would you market Blu-Ray technology to the masses that not everyone has on a game console? I understand that they (Sony) felt they had to upgrade from the DVD technology on the PS2, but come on, that could've been later down the line when Blu-Ray discs are a little more prominent. They should've just stuck to upgrading the graphics and adding the hard drive. Then the PS3 wouldn't have cost as much. 6-axis, big deal.
Even if the PS3 wasn't sold out, I still wouldn't buy it unless they remade Final Fantasy 7 but we all know the story about that.
I look forward to Super Mario Galaxy and the New Smash Bros. Brawl for my Wii. Nintendo deserves the $250 and then some for Twilight Princess. Sony screwed up this time.
Wii rocks and Xbox 360's cool. But Sony's PS3 full of ****. A PSP would do better.

I'd just like to point out that pretty much everything kracr said is wrong.
1st, yes, Resistance does take up 15 gigs, but its stored on a blu-ray disk. You don't need to download it the ps3, so it won't take up any of the Hard Disk space.
2nd, the ps3 does not have any bugs or glitches what so ever. Anyone who says so is just an xbox or wii fanboy trying to persuade people over. Its the xbox that thousands of people have had to get replaced 3 or 4 times.
Just thought I'd clear that up.
As for getting the Wii or the PS3, it depends how intense of a gamer you are. I like the PS3 better, but if you don't wanna lay down $500 -$600 for a system, then go for the Wii.

I would have to say that the PS3 is better than the Wii. With the PS3 you can voice or video chat with your friends and play your favorite blu-ray movies. With the wii you can only play games right out of the box.

i would say the ps3 but its to expensive, its just like the ps2 but with better graphics, but skrew graphics. it dosent really have any good games, except for "Resistance: Fall of Man" but if you have the 20GB ps3 than resistance is the only game that you can get because its like a 15GB game
its also proven that the ps3 has many glitch and bug problems.
i would get a wii. everybody says the wii is crap because the handle thingy always breaks.
"COME ON PEOPLE!!!! JUST HANG ON TO THE DAMN THING!!!!"
