I thought it was frozen, but something else seems to be blocking it. Is there some sort of in/out mechanism in there as well? I've poured boiling water down there for 5 hours already, so its not frozen

The only two that come to mind are General Electric/Hotpoint or some Maytag's. The newer style G.E.'s have a check valve between the pump and the drain exiting the machine. The biggest problem I have seen is clogging the valve with rubber backing from throw rugs. On Maytag's it is an anti siphon valve that can block up, but is rare and nothing I have ever seen.

get this: even if your drain line IS frozen, pouring boiling water down any machine at all, let alone five hours, is a poor choice. lets get to your problem. the description of your problem is vague. i am going to assume your washer isnt draining. where the drain hose is connected to the machine there is a hose clamp you can loosen to remove the hose and check for blocks. if this hose is clear, probably there is an obstruction(pennies r common) in your pump, or your pump has frozen(set a heater next to the washer), or your pump has failed. if your pouring boiling water down the machine, this does not sound like the repair for you. call a tech. the good news is a new pump is usually not to expensive. don't let the tech wack you its a simple repair for a qaulified guy. good luck!

No, no "baflod". The line out of the washer comes directlyfrom the pump. If the washer is not draining, you might have a couple of issues. One: the pump has something in it. remove pump and check for obstruction. Two: The timer switch is bad. If the knob rotates to the rins position,ck if the pump is on. If not, you need a new timer.

I've found a sock in there before... Just have to run a snake down it and see what you can find.

No... no bafold. You are going to have to "snake it" to find out what the deal is. Then, depending on what you find, you can fix the problem.
