Lysosomes act like a stomach in the cell. they do all of the listed functions. they contain digestive enzymes that break down used and broken cell parts so that they can be recycled, they envelop invading viruses and bacteria to destroy them and they aid in developing new body parts by selectively destroying certain cells. (example - Tadpole tail disappearing in a frog).
