Oh dear - it looks like you've found out the hard way just how insecure Microsoft Windows is!
Before connecting a Microsoft Windows system to the internet, you must first take as many precaustions as you can.

For now, you can use SUPERAntiSpyware

http://www.superantispyware.com/

FREE edition to clean up your infestation.

But remember that even though you've cleaned this one out, Microsoft Windows is still vulnerable!

* Make sure you always run up-to-date anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.
* Always install all Microsoft security updates as soon as they come out.
* Ensure you have a properly configured firewall.
* Never use Internet Explorer (use Firefox instead) or MSN Messenger (Use GAIM or Trillian).
* Never download anything you don't understand.
* Never click on any ad banners.
* Never use any "P2P" file sharing programs.
* Consider the upgrade to Linux or Mac OS X to be free of adware / spyware / trojans

1) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans
(3a) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .
(3b) Install a good firewall .

Ps :- Never ever reformat your computer for a spyware issue. This will just open your computer to more infections . Get the defenses above.

If the above steps do not remove the hijack then you would need to
(4) Download hijackthis
(5) Post the hijackthis log on the hijackthis forum for the hijackthis experts to take a look
6) Install and use firefox while browsing

Everyone is correct on the free spyware. But you need passive spyware. Example, I used to be like you in the dark side (to cheap to buy an anti-virus program). I would get stuff on the computer and every week have problems and run the free anti-virus programs. But after numerous problems, I broke down and bought Norton's anti-virus program. What it does is linger in the background and prevents anything from coming into your computer. I have had it 6 months now, and I run it once a week with Defender and AVG and not ONE item to remove. Before, I was always catching something and patting myself on the back cuz I caught it. DUH, You are catching the burglars in your house and you are proud you caught them. Why not put a guard at the front gate to prevent them from ever getting in your house in the first place. Hope you can see the difference. Yes, there are lot of people who swear by the free stuff. But ask the right question to them. I ask how many times they have run and caught a virus or something on their computer. Some proudly swear that a certain program catches it and deletes it. I try to tell them but no one listens. How did it get in the computer in the first place. That is what to ask. Me, I will say Never on my part. At least up to now. Hope this explains, things. Have a good one.

Look in the download section of the two URLs below and keep for future reference.

Write down the names of the spyware that you have, then go to http://google.com/ and type in
"thename.ofthespyware removal tool"
for each one that AVG anti-spyware found.

And, to be honest... if you have spyware, you probably also have viruses (they're two similar but different things).

Spyware
There are lots of FREE anti-spyware programs out there.
You have AVG's, I'd also recommend:
Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.spybot.info/en/mirrors/index.html
Ad-aware - http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

Viruses
There are lots for free anti-virus programs out there as well.
ClamWin - http://www.clamwin.com/
AVG - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free

Hackers
You NEED a firewall, and Windows' firewall just doesn't cut it.
Zonealarm - http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

Preventative Habits
Run anti-virus and anti-spyware software every week.
Always have a Firewall running.
Use better programs - replace Internet Explorer with
Firefox (it's free, fast, safe, and very customizable) - http://getfirefox.com/
and use a few of the security add-ons available like:
Adblock Plus (blocks ads) - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1865/
CookieSafe (blocks cookies until you say it's ok - cookies can track what sites you look at) - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2497/
and
NoScript (blocks JavaScript from sites that may use them to get around cookie blocking or worse) - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/722/

Cookiesafe and Noscript should be set to block all sites until you say (on a site by site basis) that it's ok to allow it.

I know it's a lot of info, but you NEED to KNOW these things.

I use combination of 2 programs, spybot and Ad-aware. Seems to do me well.

Important to keep whatever spyware you have updated and to scan regularly.

spware is basically a virus itself and downloading multiple different programs is a terrible thing to do. You can TRY to uninstall the programs but they might not cooperate and will compete in dominance. You might as well re-format your computer or just put a cap in it's motherboard

Adblock is by far the best way to block all the advertisement and pop-up

I found a free download of Adblock here http://j.mp/1pkhCBo

Unfortunatly, if you dont want to be stuck in a loop of shelling out for expensive software, you need to learn to reformat.
If you take spyware seriously, you will be forever spending on security software, worried, and spending ages scanning the pc.
