I have become so disgusted with the way imminent war over and above our current middle eastern conflicts that I have begun investigating a way to get OUT of the USA in an effort to save my sons lives. I have three sons who in less than 9 years the oldest will be of age. The way wars go, especially when led by someone who doesn't understand them, we can expect these wars to continue at least that long.
In my investigation of places to move I have run across other information that indicates that there is nowhere to run. The threat it seems is global and it is a result of a severely limited oil supply. The planet earth has very little left. All of the global conflict right now is a result of the lack of oil reserves and that is why we are TAKING Iraq. We MUST have that oil if our way of life is to remain close to what we have now.
That does not make it right by any means, but that is truly the motivation. In fact, it is so bad, the oil supply that is, that I wonder if profit plays as big a part in 9/11 and everything since. It appears possible that 9/11 was simply a very poor choice of criminal acts designed to press us forth to acquire the middle eastern oil fields that we MUST have to continue our way of life. Again, that does not make 9/11 right or inexcusable by any means.
There is plenty of information on the net and I will not site any specific examples. Find it for yourself if you care to. You can try YouTube and Google video for the easy information. You will find plenty.
Anyway, are you aware of Oil's role in all of this? And fyi, even though I am fearful of war involving my children, their involvement, it possibly appears, could be less than terrorism if what I am now discovering has any truth to it. And that makes moving out of the USA something that we as a family would never do. We are Americans. We love our country and though it may seem like I am personally grasping for straws for a reason to trust this government (and maybe I am,) Oil's role in all of this may be more profound than our wildest imaginations could muster? What is your take on all of this?

At the time I am reading your question, I see three very thoughtful answers, and the rest. The rest are written by uninformed, uneducated individuals who have been brainwashed by our government's propaganda. Good luck to you and your sons. I, too, have a son and a grandson, and I am willing to do anything to keep them from getting into this malaise. My son is 36 years old and has a masters degree. He is very aware of just what you are telling people. Most college educated people are. You are not alone.

Not to worry, but America has it's own oil to drill for...but I don't understand why Congress keeps blocking those actions of the oil companies. They are very foolish and it makes it appear that our Federal government is out for blood.

We are not out for blood or oil. What we do support is freedom from tyranny.

No matter what, we can try to change the future, but unless everyone around the world wants the same things, that may not happen.

I have family in Iraq now. These men are dutiful to their country and believe in freeing the Iraqi people of all terror by their militants. Doesn't everyone in the world deserve that chance? Shouldn't every country be bountiful, with good governments and trade agreements that could make each country and its people rich?

This war is about creating a democracy for others. Would you not appreciate the help if our country was in such a state? When and if the fight were here, would you and your sons cower in a hiding place and not fight for the democracy we now enjoy? It's all about duty and honor and standing for what you believe in. If you believe in your country, no matter who the leader is, then you believe in the cause.

My family does just that, and I won't turn my head in shame of how they fight. People in here are continously downing our troops, while the moms and grandmothers sit home and wonder. We look for support and all we here in this forum is hate and fear to stand up for what is right.

Don't worry about the oil because there is plenty here to sustain us. They are already working on a futuristic car that flies. It's a prototype, but it's being created as we speak. So there will be alternatives...and sooner than people think.

I don't trust the governments anywhere as it seems they are all bound and bent on power and ruination. Until 9/11 we had issues, but that changed everything that we knew as real freedom. Don't cower back...my family is fighting for people like you.

May I congratulate you sir, you are truly a scholar who is thinking ahead for the sake of your children-- and you truly did grab the big brass ring as you went around the oil go round. You are right on, and I believe you should probably have about 100 or so answers agreeing with you on this. Yes, 9/11 was a set up. Yes, our government was in on it, how else did the little Jewish boy in his class be able to tell the other students that his family was told not to go to work today at the WTC, because something BAD was going to happen? It's like the JFK murder all over again, or I should say it is the neverending lies the government force feeds us like we are calves in stalls fattening up before slaughter---and that's exactly how I feel we are treated and respected. This IS NOT A GOVERNMENT FOR THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE, America has become a government for the wealthy and by the wealthier-- and that is why there will be no draft because that would have to include their children and relatives, which, like in the 60's, and I was the generation that had their friends getting draft numbers, they will not allow their descendants to be polled to war with a number, although they can always run to Canada like they did during Vietnam, or pretend to serve like the Great Georgie Bush.

I feel sorry for you and the rest of us who have children and future grandchildren--it is time to save your money - not in banks- or stocks-but in mattresses like in the old days so it is ready in hand for the moment at hand that will come--and research now a plan of action of where to go when the crap starts flying-- and it will- within the next 5 years..........God have mercy on all of us, because we truly, truly need some divine guidance to help our children.

I also have sons 15 and 12 , who will be that age soon too. I agree with everything you said concerning peak Oil , as it is called. I also look to get out and agree it is a global issue . I also believe that 9/11 was a false flag event perpetrated by this government . The problem is that the masses are in such denial about these problems , nothing is done . Everyone says to themselves that i am only 1 person , what can I do?Maybe these acts were to be a oil grab by Bush , and obviously some would approve of this policy, based on our need of consumption of fossil fuels. However I believe its more a population control than anything . I dont want to speak for you , but it seems you believe this also . Many are silent for fear of reprisal or fear that we will be labeled as conspiracy theory kooks. However I dont care , if I'm going down , I'm going down on my terms .

Oil my man, is the life blood of this economy. WHEN our society is impacted by the worldwide high oil prices following an Iranian embargo on exporting oil, you will see pandemonium and anarchy in the streets of the USA when a loaf of bread costs $5 and Milk goes up to $10 a gallon. Not to mention what the price of Gasoline will be.

Complain about it all you want but we are years away from ending the national security threat that is oil. Oil is a necessity for the American economy, without our way of live does not exist.

If you are ready for a world without oil, just hang on your day is coming. But is not going to be pretty.

It's human nature to fight for resources in order to have the upper hand in the world. Oil has a big demand and if it's supply runs short, expect a showdown for who controls the most oil. Sure no one wants war but a world without war is just an impossible dream. Also the oil business is a profitable one so fat chance on anyone in the government lobbying to get us off it.

Two things.
#1 We are not in Iraq for oil in any way shape or form. We are there to stop events like 911 and so far we have been doing great.

#2 This is the first war taht has been fought w/o a draft and it will most likely stay that way.

Yes, oil has played a big role for a long time and now more than ever. We need to work on alternative energy and we need to do it now, not "20% in 10 years". Over and over, we depend on precarious allies for oil(Saddam was indeed one-look up Reagan/ Saddam Hussein/Rumsfied, even Gates was there. We should be smart enough and courageous enough to depend on ourselves for alternatives-solar power, wind power, electric cars...

Oil isn't the reaso that we went into Iraq. Cheney had his Halliburton stock frozen so that his political decisions wouldn't affect the stock. We went in to topple a mass-murdering dictator who used UN oil-for-food money to make his palaces grander while his people starved.
