I hear about 3.0, 4.0, 5.5- how do I know where I am at? I have been playing for about 2 years now, I use a simple Prince racket and play usually everyday- barring weather conditions. I want to possibly learn about competition and maybe a coach.

Ask your friends who you play with and which of them are doing well and who is coaching them to get a idea of who a good idea of who a teacher coach in your area is. The numbers are just a rating system you use to find out your level and what shots you have masted , The USTA holds rating sessions to get a rating. Enter a few tournaments and play against people in your age group, you will find out what you need to work on quick, plus it is the best way to improve. If you are playing everyday that is great, the best advice I can give you is really to always work on one or two specific things when you are out there and not just for a day , work on a specific shot for a few weeks or more, and do not forget to practice the heck out of your second serve, you are only as good *** your second serve.Good luck and keep at it. Also try and get a s physically fit as you can.

To find rankings you will have to be a member of USTA and they can help you find out what rank player you are. But USTA has a fee that has to be paid every year. Being a member will let you enter tournaments but you will still have to pay a tournament fee. coaches are everywhere you should find a coach depending on how serious you are looking at playing tennis. Good start is the city coach.
