I'm not decriminating against fat people or anyone, I am just curious about why so don't get all offended. Please read what I have to say before answering.
I know being fit is a lot of work for some and not everyone likes it, but if people even ate less fatty foods like chips and cookies and ate more fruits, vegetables and fresh meat then they wouldn't be fat even if they didn't exercise.
When you're fat you'll be more at risk of deceases and won't live as long.
Even running 30 minutes a weak isn't that hard or at least walk it.

I'm not talking about people with medical conditions, those people don't count since it's not their fault.
Thegreatlixini: you're right healthy food is more expensive, but isn't it worth it if it will help you live 20 years longer? Some gyms might be expansive but you don't have go to a gym to excercise. You can do push-ups at home, sit-ups or go outside and jog even if it's only for 10 minutes.
Berthy: I never said being fat is hard work, I said being FIT is hard work.
I'm not saying everyone should try to have big muscles, I'm just saying that you could go walking instead of driving 5 blocks down the road.

Some people just simply don't care enough about themselves to care if they are healthy. Also there are alot of medical reasons why a person may be overweight & unable to lose the extra weight. I have a good friend that eats ONLY healthy foods and walks everyday but because she has no thyroid she is still overweight.
Rmember that it is what is on the inside that matters anyway. =)

You said " i know being fat is alot of work for some". No , you do not KNOW because it is not alot of work to be fat, it doesn't take much work to be fat at all unless you are very thin and have a fast metabolism and are struggling to gain weight and even in this case you are not wishing to be fat but rather to gain mass or muscle.
There are many people who are fat genetically which means that sometimes no matter how much they work out they cannot take off the weight and sometimes need weight loss medication given by a doctor. Even in those cases of weight loss medications that does not even help. Other cases of people who are fat are those who are severely ill whether it is mentally or physically and so they are on meds or not and it causes weight gain. If you are physically unable to work out then you are unable to lose weight. If you must be on meds and it has a side effect of weight gain no matter how hard you work out there is nothing you can do. And ultimately you have to choose your mental well being over your physical well being, yes it is a double edged sword.
There are many other reasons why. I would ask that you study this. Go to the library. It would be hard for one not to take offense with such an ignorant question. The reason i say it is so ignorant is because there is so much information out in the world right now regarding people who are overweight and i do not understand how you could have missed it. Is coming here the first step you have taken? If so, once again i ask you to go to the library, surf the net, discuss this with a professor and psychologist.
In closing, there are those that fat because they are. They do not even think about their figure. They simply are living life happy and not worrying about their appearance as it makes no difference to them. Character and attitude is what matters to them. Isn't that what should be the focus in our lives?

We all have some habit or the other. Some habit appears funny to others but for us it is something devotional.
I give u some habits which some of us have.
1- Wearing the right shoes first and then the left.
2-Eating food, at say, 8PM even though not hungry, but just because it is 8PM.
3-Eating because he has to eat and not hungry
4-Wanting to be fat/thin because it is like that in his structure.
The list keep on increasing the more the person u come across.
For fat people if they reduce the find something missing if they are thin, so they be fat.
Tell any smoker about the problems of smoking, he will give a more detail list than u can, even then he will continue to smoke.
HABITS DIE HARD. TO CHANGE ANY HABIT IS AN HERCULIAN TASK.

I wasn't going to respond to this but I do have to say that the question isn't about curiosity, it is offensive. It is implying that overweight people are less, that the only proper thing for people to be is fit and thin. It doesn't really seem that you're concerned about fat people's health or well-being. It only seems that you see them as degrading. What does it matter to you? Why is it so important to you that fat people eat healthier and work out? What makes fat people unacceptable and who are you to determine their worth or whether they really should go out for a 30 minute run? Tell me, exactly how many thin fit people could step out and go for a 30 minute run? There is much much more to a person's weight and eating habits and exercise than what a person WANTS to be.
I feel your question is like saying "Why do people choose to be poor? Don't they understand if they just went out and got a job, invested in the stock market, and owned their own busy that they could be rich? All you have to do is go apply for a well paying job, turn into management, and then merge with another corporation. It's so easy, I don't know why anyone could not want to be rich. At least go put some money in the bank."
It's just that simple, isn't it?

How do you define fat? I mean, they are saying Tyra Banks is fat. She is certainly not, but we are conditioned to respond to the images given to us by the media.
Do you honestly believe that all fat people are lazy and eating junk food all the time? Some people get fat because of a hormone imbalance and due to that imbalance can not drop the weight. Some people have sluggish metabolism and yes there are even lazy, greedy fat people.
Exercising can actually be very difficult for some overweight people due to joint pain and problematic breathing.
No matter what a person eats, if same said person over-indulges in any food, that person is likely to gain weight.
I find it quite funny that being underweight is an eating disorder that people seek treatment for and get sympathy for, but overweight people are ridiculed and said to be out of control. If they only exercise and watch what they eat then they will lose weight...but is it not an eating disorder also?

I think being overweight creeps up on you, to be honest. We work long hours and get fast food for lunch. Choices are made by convienence and sometimes it is cheaper to get soda, snack cakes, things like that. Fruit and Veggies can be terribly expensive. To some one on a tight budget.. well. I'm not saying a healthy diet cannot be done, it's just more work to get a routine down.
I struggle with my diet a lot. I yo yo for sure, especially on soda. I am trying my best to cut it out. And getting an excersize routine(also expensive to join a gym, or could be dangerous in the area you live to walk, especially after getting home from work) can be difficult. I'm right now trying excersize dvds.
Some of it's your family enviornment, some of it's just plain out comforting yourself with food.

I've never tried a diet that works(keeps the weight off). I have however found that eating small meals more often worked. I think diets are a waste of money, and never agian will I fall for another. If it sound too good to be true, it usually is.

Feeling good about yourself is more important that trying to lose a bunch of weight to make someone else approve of you.
So you're a little heavy or maybe someone has made a comment about your weight.....so what....be happy! You are the one living in your self, accept who you are and be happy!

That's easy for you to say. Unless you are fat you have no idea how hard it can be to lose weight. Some people are genetically disposed to be heavy, and that the end of the story, for right now.

my sister is a prime example she is 5'6" and really pretty but she is over 200lbs which is sad...some people just dont want to do anything for themselves. the only time my sister has been skinny was when she was doing drugs and then she stole all my clothes.. Also some people dont know how to eat in moderation or have someone who cares to help them on the right path. i don't know what makes these people the way they are but it is so true that fatter people are more likely to have a heart attack, get varicose veins, diabetes the list goes on and on.
