Here's an outline/template that you can follow.......

"Dear [..........],

RE: Position of [................]

Please find enclosed a copy of my resume [or CV] which I am submitting for consideration for the above mentioned position.

I am a [male/female], [xx] years of age. I completed my education in [year] and was awarded a [type of degree, eg, BA] from the [name of university/school] [with honors, if applicable].

As you will note on my CV*, I have in-depth knowledge of the clothing market given my [xx] years experience with [name of firm]. Combined with my strong communications skills and my proven ability to motivate [or, in sales, etc.], I believe I would be an assett to your company.

Please let me know if I can provide you with any further information. I hope I may look forward to an early response."

* If you have no clothing industry experience, you'll want to say something like..."Although I have no direct experience in the clothing industry my background in [sales, as a manufacturer's agent, etc], coupled with ...[see above for ideas]". If you have no job experience at all, describe your character assets: "I am a highly motivated, self-starter who relishes responsibility...." and anything else you can bring to the party that may be considered a positive: "Having lived all my life in the [..........] area, I am very familiar with it and its environs."

NOTE: Anything in [...........] brackets has to be filled in by you.

I hope some of this is helpful.

dont listen to that person, 'referee' is the person who gives a reference for you, and reference is what they say or write about you.
